In Greene County district court Nathaniel Brown, 52, of Scranton was sentenced Oct. 26 to two years in prison after he was found guilty of domestic abuse assault- aggravated. He will be given credit for time served. Brown was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended due to his incarceration. He was also found unable to pay restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Brown must pay a $100 domestic abuse surcharge and $323.15 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Bradlee Gene Beadle, 48, of Jefferson as sentenced to 10 days in jail after he pleaded guilty of disorderly conduct, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. All but time served was suspended. He was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Court costs and restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees totaled $250.09. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Leslie Christine Miller, 23, of Jefferson was granted a deferred judgment after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. She was placed on informal probation for one year, and she must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She must pay a $315 civil penalty with a $125 LEI surcharge, as well as $600 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $300. A charge of possession of drug paraphernalia in magistrate court was dismissed. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Kirsten Elizabeth Nielson, 25, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct.30 to two days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty of possession of marijuana. The jail time was suspended and she was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge. Court costs were $136. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Two cases against Travis Michael Straight, 25, of Scranton were dismissed on a motion of the state because he has been indicted on federal charges. In one case, Straight was charged with manufacture, deliver or possess marijuana with intent to deliver and failure to affix a tax stamp. In the other case he was charged with driving while license revoked.
Two cases against Travis Christopher Fincel, 44, of Grand Junction were dismissed on a motion by the state after assistant county attorney Thomas Laehn determined the evidence available would not be admissible in court. In the district court case, Fincel was charged with possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense. The other case was a magistrate court case in which Fincel was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Jacob Randall Fisher, 27, of Webster City, possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated; Rickie Eugene Tuhn, 57, of Grand Junction, assault causing injury or mental illness; Rodney Dean Halterman, 18, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a city-owned public park, failure to affix tax stamp, and theft- fourth degree; and Jeremy J. Hamilton, 30, of Jefferson, OWI. Trial dates were set for Jan. 29 in every case.
A case was initiated against Ruth Marie Fischer, 42, of Paton on a charge of OWI.
